There is a lunar eclipse tonight! It will be visible from all of North America, and part of will be visible from South America, Asia, west Europe, west Africa, NZ and Australia. On the US east coast, it will peak at 3:17am apparently.
There is also a meteor shower -- the Ursids, which will appear to fan out from the Little Bear constellation, according to the news.
It is also winter solstice for the northern hemisphere.
